My broken ankle is healed, but i still have foot pain, is this normal?!

Question: My broken ankle is healed, but i still have foot pain, is this normal!?
Well this is my first week that my doctor says it is ok to participate fully in p!.e!. and all, that meens i can run laps and everything, just like everyone else!.

The problem is, when i run, or even walk sometimes, i get a pain, right in the area where my ankle and foot connect it seems!.
Also, if i put pressure on that area, like pressing on it with my finger, it hurts too!.

is this like something normal!? I was thinking that maybe the muscles in my foot are just getting back to normal or something but i dont know really!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm no doctor, I just play one with my girl friend now and then!. However, I do know that as a long time licensed massage therapist, which I truly am, this kind of thing is normal and you may feel discomfort for weeks or months!.

If your doctor or P!.E!. teacher gives you any flack about not perfoming, assert yourself and remind them with confidence that it's your body and no one but you can truly guage your fitness!. There are certain guidelines that health professionals can rely on in regards to healing time, everybody has unique conditions that affect that, though!.

Inflammation can be caused by physical, biological (germs and stuff) or chemical (battery acid burns, etc!.) trauma!. The five signs of inflammation are: Pain, Redness, Swelling, Heat and Loss of function or range of motion!.

Four or more signs indicate an acute injury, one that has just happened in the last 24 hours or so and the injury should be immobilized and iced!. Three signs with diminished intensity indicate a sub acute phase and movement of the affected tissues and surrounding joints should be actively, but guardedly maintained!. If redness and swelling are two of the signs at this point, icing is indicated!. Two or less signs with diminished intensity indicate a chronic condition and the injury should be exercised gently at first and stretched to capacity!. Applying heat at this time will help to increase blood flow to nourish damaged tissue and help muscles to relax!.

Take it easy the next month or two and don't be afraid to rest your foot elevated on a pillow!.

An aspirin can always help in the morning and at night too!.

The longer you convalesce the better your ankle will heal!.

Please consult with your doctor for verification of the above information!.
