Tobacco is a very dangerous drug!. It is legal and widely used!.
Thousands of people die every year as a result of smoking cigarettes, cigars and pipes!. The combined effects of nicotine, (the main drug in tobacco) and other gases which enter the lungs when smoked, greatly increases the chance of disease and ill-health!. Tobacco is a stimulant drug giving smokers a 'lift'!.

Smoking has been directly linked to lung cancer, heart disease and other major illnesses, as well being dangerous during pregnancy for the mother and unborn child!.

It is also recognised that secondary smoking or passive smoking can put the health of others at risk!. This is one of the reasons why smoking has been so widely banned in public places!.

Smoking and young people

Although the number of adults who smoke has dropped over the past ten years, this has not happened amongst young people!. In fact in some parts of the country the number of young smokers has actually increased especially amongst young women!.

Statistics have shown that one quarter of Britain's 15 year olds (both boys and girls) are regular smokers!. It is estimated that 450 children per day start smoking!. Half of all teenagers who are currently smoking will die from diseases caused by tobacco if they continue to smoke throughout their lives and one half of this number will have their lives shortened by an average of 23 years!.

Currently on in five 15 year old boys smoke cigarettes - this is a decrease of 5% since the mid 1980s!. The numbers of teenage girls smoking has risen from 25% in the mid 1980s to 29% now - that's one in three!.

What Are The Costs!?

? Lung cancer, emphysema, stroke, heart attack - the list goes on
? Damaged circulation, gangrene, amputation

Social
? Polluting the air with carcinogens
? Children at higher risk of asthma, cot-death, bronchitis and glue ear
? Smoke gets in your eyes
? Dusty, stuffy home!. Nicotine stains your walls as well as your fingers!.
? Spoilt clothes and furniture
? Increased risk of fire in the homeWww@Answer-Health@Com

I really wouldn't worry about getting your blood tested for a spider bite unless the bite starts to spread!.

I am not going to harass you about smoking, I smoke, wish I didn't but you should let your doctor know if they ask!.

You don't need to confess everything about your life whenever you goto a doctor but if they ask a question you never lie, so if they do ask you if you smoke let them know and ask them to keep if confidential!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They will not find out you are smoking from bloodwork!.

Nicotine degrades into cotinine, and even though there are specific ways to test for cotinine in the blood (blood, urine, saliva) they're not going to test for it unless there's a reason to!. In fact, I've never even heard of anyone being tested for cotinine!.

But, if you are smoking, and you do go to the hospital, tell them when they admit you!. They will ask, and if you say no, it can cause a whole host of health problems, not to mention legal problems!.

Pharmacokinetics is a funny animal!. Believe it or not, the medication you are given will probably change based on how much you smoke!. Plus, if there's a respitory issue, they need to know that your lungs might not be in the best of shape before giving you an endotracheal intubation!. Not that they'll have to do that for a simple spider bite, but it can and does come up for more serious things!.

In short, yes, they can find out, but they won't, because they're not testing for it, and don't hide **** from your doctors!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Smoking does more damage to your body then a spider bite will!. If it was a really serious bite, you would be showing symptoms within 30 minutes!. If not, your body should take care of it!. Although i would reccomend a doctor visit nonetheless!.

If they do a blood test , it is possible to find out if you have been smoking, nicotine takes a few days to leave your system!.

I don't know why you are worried, are you underage or something!? If you are, then It'd be cool if they did find out!.\Www@Answer-Health@Com

well first of all!.!.!. you should stop!. and second of all, are you saing you feel sick!? i dont think that can link the two, noWww@Answer-Health@Com
