Hi, I had a ganglion in my non-writing hand a few years back (& had it removed)!. It didn't cause any pain but just caused a bump!. Perhaps yours is slightly irritated or something!?
Back in the day they didn't even remove them - they just used to whack the area with a big book which broke it up - they did tend to come back though (so I've been told); hence surgery these days!.
It's a minor op - you're in and out in a day (not even)!. They just make an incision and!.!.!.take it out! So you'd probably be able to get an op within a couple weeks max!.
After the op - I was told to just minimise movement on it - specifically exercise (like going to gym or whatever); it's just so the stiches don't stretch which can cause some scarring or the wound opening!. I kinda over-did exercise too soon after and hence have a big *** scar for what was a very little procedure! Not smart!.
I reckon if you gave it a week or even a few days after the op, writing wouldn't be an issue!. Just don't start playing tennis or other exercises that will put strain on the area!
I didn't wear a support - just a bandage for a few days as I remember - it is minor surgery!.
This info is just from my own experience so be sure to check it all out with a qualified doctor before taking it to heart!
As always - check out Wiki: http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Ganglion_cy!.!.!.
Hope that helps :) Good luck with exams- and don't freak out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
