Why is an old scar hurting?!
Question: Why is an old scar hurting!?
I had gallbladder surgery a year and a half ago and the largest scar (which is on my upper, middle stomach) has been hurting!. On one end it's really red and a little inflamed looking!. It kind of itches, but it hurts to touch it, so I can't scratch it!. It almost looks like it's going to burst open!. Why would this be causing problems this long after the surgery!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

sure sounds like a keloid scar to me!. they get red, raised, itchy, and sharp shooting pains go through them!. i have one on my chest!. unless you have a fever or the pain is deep into your abdomen or there is drainage then i would say its a keloid, your local plastic surgeon can inject the scar with steroids that will shrink it and take away alot of the redness and pain, it is covered by most insuranceWww@Answer-Health@Com
i cant really answer your question but i can empathize!. i have 9 scars from a 3 yr old surgery (7 on chest/stomach 2 on head) and from time to time they get inflamed or itch or tingle and they hurt to touch for about a year afterward off and on!. all i can recommend is that u tell your docter or the surgeon that operated on you!. also to diminish the look of the scar try Vitamin C oil!. i hope this has been of some help to u!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Hmmm, I'm thinking it could be infected!? Either that or you might be allergic to something the surgeon used, but I could be wrong!. Just trying to help!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
