It sounds like it's a muscle cramp or pull!. You need to take a break and let it heal itself!. you can work out your chest and arms other ways besides bench press in the mean time!.
Good luck!. It never hurts to go visit the doc!. if you try that and it doesn't get better in a couple weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sound to me as if you have just pulled a muscle in that area of your neck!. This important think now is to try and keep that area relaxed - pain killers will help with that!. This is because the pain can cause you to tense the muscles in this area, which will compound the problem and also cause the pain area to spread!. You should not do heavy/strenuous work outs that frequently!. Probably a good idea not to work those muscles for a while and then ease back into it over few weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well i think that u kinda got used to not doing it when u had the flue which is understandable!. so what you shud do is: instead of doing ur usual bench press weight try going a bit lower and bring it back up again when ur body is comfortable with it!. DO NOT MAKE UR BODY DO SOMETHING IT CANT HANDLE!. this pain is a sign that ur body can't handle that weight right now!. if u keep doing this it cud result in something very serious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might want to take a rest from Bench Presses, Or even the gym! And i had the flu wants i was doing excersize at gym (high school) When i had the flu i did crunches!.!. Same as you! I had really bad pain the ban of the right side of my neck also my eardrum when i had eartubes!. Excersizing should be took a rest when you are sick!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had pain on the side of my neck once too!. I couldn't even turn my head side to side without the pain moving through my body!. I went to the doctor and all it ended up ebing was an infected gland!. They gave me some meds and it was gone right away!. I suggest seeing a doctor so they can make sure nothings wrongWww@Answer-Health@Com

You've done some damage to your neck!. Lay off the bench presses for the time being and see a sports injury specialist!. If it's not treated, you're in for a lifetime of headaches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You probably have a muscule strain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If there is kryptonite in the gym, this may be harming you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe you are using too much weight!. Take some of the weight off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe your t shirt is too tightWww@Answer-Health@Com

ask the gym instructor there, its likely to either be a trapped nerve or your posture while doing these excercises!.

If it happens elsewhere- ie on other excercises, its probably a trapped nerve, if not, its more likely your trying to go at the same intensity as before but not being good enough to,
- if you have a break longer then a week you have to start off easy again!. Otherwise you strain your muclses and get an injury- like so!.

You need to rest this part if your body, if its swollen use ice, deep heat cream/spray and try yoga as some excercises can help stretch out the muscle thats gone into shock!.

If you speak to someone at the gym, they can observe you and tell you what you are doing wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
