Answers:
It is the cartilage in your hip joint that is thinning, not bone!. It would be nice if someone would figure out a way to regrow cartilage since so many people suffer from arthritis!. Maybe someday they will!.
Recent studies have NOT shown that glocosamine/chondroitin are effective in rebuilding cartilage although some people may experience a placebo effect!. I took it for several years when my hip OA was so bad!. It was expensive and I don't think it did me a bit of good!. I wish I had the $$ back that I spent!

No, a hip replacement is not something to be "reversed"!.

If it's any consolation, hip replacements really do work and they (or hip resurfacing, a different surgical procedure) are the ONLY thing that gets people who have really bad hip OA back on their feet!. The surgery has almost become routine!. I've had both of my hips replaced in separate surgeries!. Without them, I would be in a wheelchair today!. As it is, I have no pain, can walk miles, take no pain meds, have no limp, and need no walking aids!. No one can tell that I have two fake hips unless I tell them!. It's almost like miracle surgery!.

I too was scared to death of the surgery!. I also couldn't believe that I of all people could need it!. I thought it was a surgery for "old" people and I wasn't all that old!. But I got to the point where I couldn't go anywhere or do anything because I couldn't stand for more than a few minutes and I couldn't even walk a block!. I took all the "conservative" measures to get some relief: took NSAIDS, had physical therapy, an exercise program, joint protection, even went to using a cane to walk!. Some of these things worked for awhile!. All of them failed me in the end!. When you get to the point that it begins to affect your life and health (such as interrupting sleep), it may be time to reconsider what you're willing to do for relief!. The surgery is considered "elective" so it's not done on an emergency basis as a matter of life and death; it is something that you can plan ahead for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you refuse to get a hip replacement, then you will just have to learn to live with the pain!. A hip replacement can't be reversed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No and no!. Why are you refusing a replacement!? It will help with mobility and the pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
