My boyfriend wants to quit smoking using the drug Champix. How successful is it?!

Question: My boyfriend wants to quit smoking using the drug Champix!. How successful is it!?
My boyfriend's going to smoking cessation tomorrow!. He said he's been smoking for 14 years now and smokes around 10 a day but more if he drinks (probably around 20 during drinking or a long night out)!.
He has heard about the drug Champix and is keen to quit using that, as he has tried in the past and his will power is rather rubbish! How successful is the drug!? Anyone got any past experiences with it and how it is taken!?
I have looked about on the internet and seen some horror stories regarding it!. One person i read about had suicidal thoughts! Anyone know of the known side effects as well!?
Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have heard its one of the best to use for giving up smoking!.!. my friend a smoker for 20+ years was desperate to give up and tried everything over a 3 year period but just couldnt give up then she tried Champix and has now been off the ciggs for over 18 months!!! she sometimes gets the odd craving still but it goes and she is sooo much more healthy !.!.!.

(also she didnt put weight on when she gave up smoking because she followed a healthy eating plan at the same time) this gave her a goal to focus on while giving up smoking!.!.

good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

i have been smoking for 6 yrs during my 20's to 26 and i have quit for past 2 yrs!.

i agree its not easy but its not impossible

people who take drugs to do it in my opinion are fooling themselves

they want the drugs to do the job whihc they should be doing in first place

there s one more way when our body excersises it needs more oxygen and cannot take the smoke

tell the moron to run for 2-3 kms , if the habit does not go increase the kms and then add excersises in the routine like swimming etc

it can be done and I am Jeegar MerchantWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think you are referring to Chantix !?!?!?

I know some people who have done it and they all had positive results!.

Its more sucessful than any other smoking cessation I have seen before!.

Every drug can have side effects, its not just a patch!. It actually blocks the satisfaction a smoker gets when they use cigarettes!.

Have him discuss it with the doctor!. This drug has proven to be more sucessful then any other one out thereWww@Answer-Health@Com

My experience was hard too!. Had been smoking for more than 18 years and finally succeeded after few times of quiting!.
I experience many times of chest pain and finally will power felt stronger of quiting and after few days later bought a carton of dunhill (10 packs inside), drove my car to a river side and threw that carton into the river!. And told myself if i still buy ciggarettes and smoke, I'll be slapping own face!. But will power comes first!.
Good Luck to both of you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It worked for me!!! I have been 4 months without a smoke!. I will warn you that it made me and others I know very angry, irrationally angry and as males tend to be more aggressive I would be wary!.!. get plenty of medical advice!. Also you still need willpower, I still want to smoke, I just know now that I don't need to!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
