Answers:
Have you had an MRI to confirm this is the case!?
Your choices from hereon depend on the level of pain and lack of mobility you are suffering and how long you have suffered for!.

I believe in science mostly, ie doctors, surgeons!. But this is scary for some people and can also not be an option if this has just happened very recently, or has been the problem for a very long time: there is a window of time when surgeons will operate or treat the problem!.

I was initially was given a Cortazone injection which did not work (anti-infammatory)

I have now had surgery carried out by an orthopaedic surgeon on a lumber region for a prolapsed disc (microdiscetomy), but this slipped again 3 weeks later, after I sneezed! I am facing possibly having to have surgery again, but I don't regret having it, as recovery was not too painful!.

My sister-in-law is facing surgery for 3 slipped discs in her upper back/neck and is about to see a neurosurgeon to discuss surgery!.

She has suffered with it for 18 months!. I had suffered for one year!.

We have both been bombarded with alternative suggestions, none of which worked (physio included)!.

We were also recommended Chiroprators and Ostepaths!. I have had friends who used both, some found it did not work, or it hurt more!. Others recovered in their own time (several months mind you)

Finances may affect your decision of course!. If you are undecided, look at the time scales and the cost to you!.

Don't let other people bully you into a decision, at the end of the day, our problems are similar but different and you need to choose what is comfortable for you to try!.

Things like Yoga and Pilates are good to try once you are recovered to improve your flexbibility and hopefully avoid this happening again!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most important thing to know about this is, do you have pain from the discs!?
Many people have "bulging discs" without ever having symptoms!. Many have no sign of disc pathology on MRI and are in severe pain!.

Usually, for someone to have many disc bulges in the upper neck, they would have had to have severe neck trauma!. If that is the case, are you experiencing any neurological symptoms!? (tingling in the arms, loss of sensation or strength!?)

Your best bet is to be evaluated by a physician (Neurosurgeon, chiropractor) and start with conservative care first!. Surgery should be your last resort!

With any medical treatment, there is a risk of things getting worse!. If you see a chiropractic physician, a physiotherapist, or surgeon!.!.!. there is a chance that things can go wrong!. As a matter of fact, there is a risk of things getting worse if you do nothing!.

Options include:
Surgery (fusion of the segments, discectomy, artificial discs)

Chiropractic/Osteopathic Medicine (traction, spinal manipulative therapy)

Do nothing :)

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can have a micro discectomy!. I would only recommend this if you are experiencing debilitating pain as there are risks associated with the procedure!.

Otherwise you could just try physiotherapy!. Do NOT go to a chiropractor or any other joint manipulator as the can make disc problems much worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

An hour a day of yoga stretching exercises might help to stretch the spine and neck and allow the discs to move back inWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have them too but I certainly wouldn't have surgery!

See a really good osteopath!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
