Question: Smashed my thumb in my car door!.!.!. plz answer!.!.!.!?
so ismashed my thumb in my car door last night!.!. well my fingernail turned blue and my thumb is all swollen up!.!. ive kept ice on it and propped it up so it would quit throbbing!.!.ive also been taking some ibeprofen to make the swelling go down but it stays swelled up!.!.!.could it be broken or just bruised really bad!?!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not a Dr or nurse! If you can move it in its full range it should be OK for now!. You may need to poke a hole through the nail in a couple of days to drain it!. If it is not better by tomorrow, you may need to see a Dr!. Your hands are masterpieces of engineering, there fore there is a lot to injure and feel lots of pain! I would say broken but it depends on where you smashed it!. If it was just at the nail I would say its just badly bruised (I smashed my thumb in safe door once, took a day or two to stop throbbing)!. If you smashed the thumb below the nail and that part is bruised, it may be broken!. Can you bend your thumb!? If not you may want to get it x-ray'd!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
its probably only badly bruised, but keep putting ice on it, and just go to a doctor and ask EXACTLY what is wrong with it!.

it could be broken but more likely it's soft tissue damage,it will hurt till it feels better,might want doc to look at it!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.tomWww@Answer-Health@Com
