Answers:
stay away from sleeping pills!!

i go through insomnia every few weeks / months!.
it can last from 1 week to a couple of months for me!.!. then my sleep goes back to normal!.

i've noticed lately however that if i eat too much throughout the day i have trouble sleeping!!

you said you don't drink coffee at night, try avoiding it throughout the day as well!. if necessary have only 1 cup! you can also substitute coffee with green tea which contains more caffeine but is much healthier!. also, there are certain teas that do contain caffeine - such as Green Tea - so avoid those at night! if you want to drink tea at night drink Camomile or another herbal tea that is naturally caffeine-free!. you can also warm up some milk!

avoid exercising late in the evenings!!

you can also take up yoga

i dunno who am i to give advice!? i have the worst sleeping habits in the world!! :(

but ya stay away from sleeping pills i'd rather be insomniac than take those!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason!. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia!.blogspot!.com/ for more infoWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have insomnia and I just accept it!. I stay up doing things and make the time useful and not lay awake in bed for hours on end!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A remedy that helped me is looking a an object high up in the room!. Your eyelids tire and you sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes caffeine has a delayed effect; if I drink coffee after say!.!.!. 10 am I cannot sleep that night!. I would try to cut out caffeine altogether!. What is actually happening when you try to sleep!? If you are just lying there, then it could very well be that you just don't need the sleep!. If, you do lay there and think about things (No, it doesn't necessarily have to be "worries"!.!.!. it can be about your spouse, or whatever) then my suggestion would be self-hypnosis or some form of it!. The problem with herbal remedies is that they are not standardized by anything or anybody; so the remedies you are taking may contain very very little of the substance you think is in the pill (e!.g!. valerian) and so no effect is gained!. I have been diagnosed with 5 out of 6 major sleep disorders (including insomnia) and would like to refer you to my blog, http://www!.insomniareliefreviews!.blogspo!.!.!. which is dedicated to giving information on insomnia and relief!. I hope this helps!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had inspmnia for over 12 years (2 hours max) and alcohol before bed makes things worse!! it turns your sleep quality way down!.

best is to have a moderate exercise a few hours before bed then a milky drink (ovaltine or the like) and try and cool down before bed time as that helps!.

Also relaxing outside of the bedroom is good only go to the bedroom when you feel sleepy as going to be at a fixed time then sitting reading in bed does NOT help you get sleepy it prolongs the time!.

bets is to listen in the living room to relaxing music or something you do NOT have to think about in thin clothes to cool down and relax, then when you are sleepy heading off to bed!. make sure your bed is cool and comfortable and dark and quiet and your sleep pattern should stabilise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Instead of straight scotch, try a hot toddy, which is scotch in a cup with hot water and some honey, with lemon too if you want!.

Reading works for me, plus watching TV!. You need to numb your mind - that's the problem!. You've got stuff rushing around your head which needs to either go completely or be transferred into dreams, so try to be as relaxed as possible before you hit the pillow!.

It also helps (for me) to make the bed warm before you get in!.

Research suggests now that the old 8 hours' sleep is a myth - even 3 hours a night can be enough!. It's up to the individual and clearly you are not happy with the amount of sleep you are getting, but you say you're getting 3-4 hours, so that might be alright!.

If you feel okay during the day, then the amount of sleep you have at the moment may be alright!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
