Broken nail like entire nail off?!
Question: Broken nail like entire nail off!?
ok here it is as i type in extreme pain!. About 1 month ago i broke my nail picking up a heavy laundry basket!. I have acrylic nails and at first i thought i had broken my finger cause the pain was so inmense!. Well as the pain went away in 3 whole days that i couldnt bend my finger i noticed that my nail was cracked right in the middle!. I put a finger brace on and went by my normal life!. Well i woke up this saturday and i guess placed my hand the wrong way and it just snapped back!. And now my whole entire nail acrylic and real have came off with the exception of a little piece that doesnt seem to want to come off!. So its been 2 days and i cant take the entire nail off!. and its red red red!. its throwing out some yellow liquid and it is swollen like crazy!. I tried several times to take the nail off but i cant it seems that its either attached under my skin or hell i dont know!. Is this normal or should i go to the dr!?!?!?

Answers:
Please go to the doctor!. You have exposed nail bed and it sounds like its getting infected!. Don't try to remove the bottom part of the nail, it is attached to the part that grows the nail, under the skin at the bottom of the nail plate!. (Germinal matrix)!. You will probably need an oral antibiotic as well as ointment and bandage to cover the raw surface, and the finger brace is a good idea!. But don't let it get any worse, go get it checked out!.
