How can I curb my enjoyment of smoking cigarettes?!


Question: How can I curb my enjoyment of smoking cigarettes!?
I know I could quit cold turkey any time, I've done it!. I just enjoy smoking!. That is the only thing that keeps me smoking!. How can I stop my enjoyment of smoking so that I can quit!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there!. Before I share my answer, let me tell you that after smoking around 2 packs a day for 20+ years, I was able to quit 2!.5 years ago!. Cold turkey!. It wasn't easy but it was worth it!. And really, the change happened when my MIND changed about smoking!.

You see, I believed, as you do, that I enjoyed smoking!. It was a way for me to unwind, relax, sit back !.!.!. it was good!. But you know what I learned!? I learned that it wasn't really the smoking I enjoyed!. If it was that well then I could get just as much pleasure from sticking my head down a chimey for the same pleasure!.

What you really enjoy is NOT the smoking!. What you really enjoy is the NICOTINE!. You are, as I was, addicted to nicotine!. When you take a puff, you don't just get lungsful of hot, black smoke!. You also get --bingo!-- nicotine!. Did you know that people within the cigarette industry actually call cigarettes "nicotine delivery vehicles"!? That's right!. So you get your fix of nicotine, which is quite pleasurable, but along with it you are getting that black smoke and tar which is tearing up your lungs!. So you have come to associate the pleasure of smoking with "the smoke" when in fact it is the nicotine!.

How can I be so sure!? I used the patch to help me quit!. One day, after my morning shower but before I put a new patch on, I was in the process of getting dressed when my lips actually started pulsating and throbbing!.!.!.they were SCREAMING for nicotine! So I put on the patch and the feeling shortly subsided!.

I'm not saying it's easy to quit!. Because it's not!. But look at all the folks around you who don't "have" to smoke to live full, happy lives!. What is different between you and them!? It is simply that you are addicted to nicotine!.

And guess what else I learned!? If you really want to quit, then the only way OUT of the addiction is to suffer THROUGH the withdrawal!. The patch made it much easier, but it was still hard!. But I also learned that I didn't have to "DO" something when a craving hit!. I could just sit there and feel it wash over me like a wave!. And then it would be over, until the next one!. And as time goes on those waves come less and less until one day you realize, YOU'RE FREE from the nicotine addiction!.

It's not pretty!. But it's possible!. Just remember: it's not the cigarette you want !.!.!. it's the nicotine! And the ony way OUT of the nicotine addiction is to suffer THROUGH the withdrawal!.

While I was quitting I kept telling myself, "I'd rather be a non-smoker wanting a cigarette than a smoker wanting to quit!" And now, 2!.5 years later, I am happy to say that I am completely free from the addiction!.

Check out www!.quitnet!.com!. That was a lifesaver for me during the first week !.!.!. I was there seeking support all the time!. The worst thing for me was thinking I would feel awful like that forever!. It was very helpful for me to hear from people who were five weeks out !.!.!. five months out !.!.!. five years out !.!.!. and to know it would eventually get better if only I would stick it out!

And they were right! It did get better! And it will get better for you!

I know you'll think this is cliche, but just find something that keeps your mind off smoking!. You'll find you can go much longer without one if you aren't trying to quit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
