Spinal?????!
Question: Spinal!?!?!?!?!?
What's the difference between a spinal and an epidural!?!?!? The hospital I'm going to be delivering at don't do epidurals!.!.!. but they do spinals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
epidurals require the insertion of an indwelling catheter that can have medication added to it!. they are used only for birth's!. Spinals inject into the same place and they inject sufficient freezing and medication to last for a period of time, usually the length of a procedure!. No catheter is left in the spine and if more medication is needed then they'd reinject using a new needle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
there is textbook for this question so i will be as simple as possible for a normal nonmedical person
spinal anesthesia is simpler and it will cause loss of pain and muscle power for anything below the umbilicus
sounds great!.!.!.!.but not for a delivering mother
there will be surely no pain yet the muscles of the abdomen will not work too!.!.!.so she cant push so the baby cant go out as pushing is a vital part in normal delivery
so we do the more difficult epidural where muscles are spared and only pain is releived
so for a normal delivery only an epidural can be beneficial
a spinal can be used for caesarean section as we dont need muscle power here
as for one person who answered before!.!.!.we dont necessarily put an indwelling catheter in an epidural but in labour it is better to be insertedWww@Answer-Health@Com
