It's not the needle stick that might hurt a little, it's the medications, and this is not too common, if you need the injection, then you need to deal with the small chance it will sting.. a little note that helps..if you are getting your injection in your left buttock turn your left foot inwards towards your other foot, this helps to spread the muscle and make for a better injection.
It depends. I used to have to have Penicillin injections in my backside because I'd had rheumatic fever as a child and they were very uncomfortable. But an ordinary jab is no problem at all.

had a penicilin shot in my rear in boot camp. while it made my tail end sore later, the shot itself wasn't horrible. I wouldn't say much worse or better than taking a small shot to the arm.
