No insurance, but I have an ear infection. Will they still treat me?!

Question: I know it's not nobodies fault that I dont have insurance and cant pay for it at the moment. My insurance was taken away when I hit 18. I have a throbbing ear ache, do u think they will treat me if I go to the emergency room? I live in NY. Thanks!

yeah legally they cant disapprove you of health care. there's actually some kind of act cant remember it though

Well I live in Texas and our hospitals have to treat you no matter what. So I would definitely go!

Sure they will treat you. The bill you get after will cost way more then if you just go to a Dr.

yes they can't refuse you care in the E.R. because no insurance however ask them if you can apply for there charity program most hospitals in my area have it if not make payments

There must be a hospital in your area that is known as the "county" hospital that treats people with no insurance. I wouldn't go to the emergency room of just any hospital that will cost you more. Look online or in the yellow pages for an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist. There will probably be a charge for the exam and then you may get a prescription. They will treat you in the ER but it will much more expensive than if you just go to a Doctor's office. They may even accept walk-ins so call first and ask for prices/

emergency rooms legally must 'screen and stabilize' anyone who walks through the door. they will bill you but hospitals are also required to give away a certain amount of 'charity care' a year so a lot people who seek care in the emergency room can get away without paying.

before resorting to the emergency room i would call around to some local clinics and ask for prices. you will find that public clinics often have much lower prices and you won't experience the wait that you would in the emergency room.

Yes they have too and they might be able to get you assistance in paying for it
