Thermometer question...?!


Question: is there any place to stick the thermometer besides my mouth..becuase i am sick and my forhead feels hott but for some reason or another whenever i stick a thermometer in my mouth it always says 95.6 and i know thats not my normal temperature becuase at the doctors office i have a 98.5 so do i have a faulty thermometer or am i just doing it wrong...?

You could do a rectal temperature, it's more accurate (though also more uncomfortable).
You can also do an axillary temperature (putting the thermometer in your armpit) but that's usually even less accurate than oral.
your problem may be that you're breathing too heavily while taking the temperature or that you ate something cold recently. Also, home thermometers may not be as accurate as the one your doctor uses.

You can check your temperture by having the thermometer under your tongue or under your armpit or get a thermometer like a thermoscan that you can place inyour ear. The temperature that should be in your mouth is 96.7-99.6. In your armpit it should read 96.6-98.6. If you really want another way to check buy a thermometer that can go into your ear because those are alittle more accurate than anything else.
