depends how bad it is.
jumping off a chair and landing flat footed can do it - but it has to be very weak to work.
id suggest talking to a doc or physio first. theres prob better ways than actually snapping it. maybe even search the net and see the rehab process etc

yeah it might be m dad has it
and it can be caused by many thing either from wearing the wrong shoes like no arch support walking in bad shoes and even if your overweight your feet will get the pain
there are some ways to fix it like surgury but its a long revovery also there is theripedic shoes
hope this helped

Rupturing your Achilles tendon is going to put you into a world of hurt. You won't be able to walk for a while, and your leg won't ever be the same again. Please don't do this. The best thing to do is A. See a doctor, and B. let your legs rest until they are better. I know this is easier said than done, especially since I'm assuming you are running into these problems playing a sport. Rupturing a tendon will not help you heal the tendon faster, in fact it will make the healing process slower. I'm not a dr., so I suggest seeing one to see what your options are.

I have the same problem - very painful and I walk like a 90 year old at times. I have been treating it for at least a year. It comes and goes, mostly comes..

NEW TREATMENT AVAILABLE: Nitroglycerin patch, same as for heart patients. You wear it on your Achilles for 12- 16 hours a day. It increases blood flow and promotes healing. It seems to be working. Ask your doctor...

However you do you do not want to go through Achilles rupture surgery. It will take up to one full year before you are back to normal. Very hard to rehab.

Look up Prolotherapy, and see if you think it might work for you.
