At my soccer game last week, I went up for a header...?!

Question: and when my head connected with the ball, it hit hard. It was freezing out that day and the ball was rock hard. Now, my head is still throbbing. My mom said it was probably bruised or something, but it's the whole inside of my head that just kills. Also, I seem to have a little trouble focusing on objects and sometimes feel dizzy. Does anyone have any idea of what's wrong with me? Thanks!

It sounds like you have a concussion. You will need to be check out by a doctor before you can play soccer again. There is a real danger in returning to sports too soon following a concussion. If you were to hit your head again you could develop a life threatening condition called second impact syndrome. The mortality rate is around 60-70% for second impact syndrome, and you can also have irreversable changes in the brain.

For now, just take it easy. You should not be playing or even training until you are released by a doctor. Avoid anything that can raise your heart rate, and this can increase you symptoms.

you may have a concussion. go to the doctor and have it checked out.

i would take something or get a cold towel and keep on it for a while and be quiet for minute or two and see do that help i hope you not dizzy or anything sorry are you still dizzy or only when you got hit if so tell your mom you may have to see a doc.
