I really need help. I'm near desperate. Can anyone HELP ME????!

Question: I hurt my hip in karate. My mom, a nurse, thinks that I strained it, but it's been four weeks and it's still killing me. It's gotten slightly better, but not by much. It went from constant hurting to hurting only when I move it or put pressure on it. My blackbelt test is coming up soon (in around 5 months) and I need to be able to run 3 miles, do -can't remember how many but quite a few- pushups, and over 100 situps. All three of the activities kill my hip and back. I think this is near impossible, but is there anyway to prepare for these without KILLING my hip? Also, how can I help my hip? (I've tried: resting, streaching, heat, cold) I'm doing bicept curls for the pushups. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

For a young person, continued severe pain in the hip 4 weeks after injury is not usual. The top of the femur (the long bone in your thigh) is subject to traumatic injury because it is supplied by only a single blood vessel, and is therefore somewhat prone to poor circulation.

Talk to your mother about this again, stressing the amount of pain you have. Pain is a signal to change your activity, and sometimes to seek help. You may need help from a doctor to avoid permanent injury.

umm, go to your doctor....

go to a doctor dammnit!

GO TO THE BLOOMING HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to a doctor. And if you can't then take pain killers.

yeah i hurt my knee during soccer
and my dad told me it would go away
then 6 months later
i went to the doctor
and it was dislocated
and it'll probably never be the same
go to the doctor.

You need an x-ray! If there is a fracture, you are doing more and more damage, with each motion.

You have to tell your mom..go to the Doc..it maybe a hip flexor or it could be a fracture. You can't put a cast on it so they'll probably tell you to rest and maybe give you some pain killers. It won't heal if you don't rest it!

Well if it is still hurting you,
you should go to the doctors to get it checked out.
Unless you want to have more of a chance straining yourself in the future.

Go to your karate instructor and let them know that you are injured so they take the pressure off you. That's not the world. I would be more concerned with my long-term health. You don't want to be crippled one day because of this. See your doctor so they can take the appropriate tests and measures.

5 month so have sufficient time for ur hips to heal...

see a doctor to make sure it's only a strain. ask your coach for advice and see if he can recommend a topical oil for the pain. i use axe.
my nephew is into judo and he recommended it.
it works very well, but there are many over the counter remedies that will help you. try some heat and gentle massage. good luck to you.

Chinaman to the rescue! .....no.

Did you go see a doctor, Its possible you dislocated the bone. If you dislocated the bone, go see a doctor. But If not, you probably injured your tendon, and THAT I can help you. Try massaging the area that hurts most until it is heated, don't use pads cuz...I dunno if they work. After it is heated, do stretches, Don't do it too fast, and grasp your tendon while stretching. Make sure you do the stretch while your hips are heated.

go to the hospital

Wow, I'm so sorry! That sounds like you really need to see a doctor or something. Good luck!

Reschedule your black-belt test, and have your mom take you to get checked out. If it has been four weeks, something is obviously wrong. If you broke it (I doubt because you would not be able to walk), something has too be done, and even if it is strained, you need time to recuperate and heal. So wrap up where you got hurt with an ACE bandage, and put an Icy-Hot Patch on. Rest, and take it easy. Even if you are training for your black-belt, sit on the couch and RELAX! You can do little exercises like moving your ankles, lifting weights with your arms, and even lifting your knees.

i am a blackbelt so i understand wut that test you have to go through is like. I also hurt my hips when i was running so i cant run long distances anymore. My advice to you is to see a doctor and go to pyhsical thearpy immediately if you want to feel better before your test. Also get x-rays done to see if you have made any major damage.
inbetween thearpy sessions (and even before you start going) i suggest you take a ice bath (fill the bathtub up w. ice water and sit for 15 mins) this will help speed healing and prevent more injuries.
hope i helped and good luck!

You DO need help from a doctor. The only way to allow your hip to heal is to stop running and let it rest. You do need to find out what's wrong with it though, so GO TO A DOCTOR. Four weeks sounds like a long time for a strain to me. Talk to your mom about all your symptoms and the severity of pain. 5 months might be enough time to get it treated and healed and get you back in shape before the blackbelt test, but only if you get on top of the problem as soon as possible. In any case, your health and well being is more important than karate!
