Cracked Rib - should I work?!
Question: I have been to an ER dr. who did an Xray, and I have a fractured rib. He told me I could work, but no heavy lifting. But he didn't even ask what kind of work I did.
Well, I work at a dry cleaners where I am always moving my arms and it hurts!
Should I be working with this?
I am going to see my dr. tomorrow, I just wanted opinions.
Thanks

no i dont think that you should be working if the pain is persisting. yes it would be a great idea to go visit your doctor. and no you should not be working with your arms because then you will be overstraining those causing you more pain and grief
Cracked ribs can hurt for months. Do what's comfortable for you, but I would start with light duty for a few weeks, then just slowly increase to what you can tolerate. When I cracked a few of mine years ago, I know I couldn't even tie my shoes or get myself dressed for the first few weeks. Ask about a rib belt, it helps a little by providing support, but I know drs. don't necessarily like them because you end up not breathing properly which can lead to pneumonia, at least that's what I was told.
Yes, If you did not, that's lazy
