What are some excercises and or practices I can put into use for a weak lower ba!

Question: One word, Pilate's! It is a exercise that improves 'core strength' or the corset of muscles around your abdomen. It needs no equipment, you can do it at Home. However I would advise you look around to see if their are any Pilate's Classes in your area. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Disc Prolapse, so my spine is severely affected. However I found Pilate's to be the only real exercise that I could learn and then continue at home and yes I have noticed a big difference in my pain, posture and overall health improvement. Best of Luck

Stand up straight, have your hands behind your head like you're about to do sit ups, then bend your upper body forward, keeping a slight arch in your back, you don't want to hunch over. Then when you're as far as you can go, straighten your back again and do reps of those (4 seconds down, 3 seconds up). Once you're used to it, and you're doing it in proper form you can grab a phone book or something like it, and hold it behind your head and do the same thing. After your exercise, touch your toes to stretch it out, or at least try to touch your toes.

The exercise looks like this:

Except since you have bad back aches I wouldn't suggest the barbell until you're comfortable with your body weight.

Any exercise that makes you straighten your back will do. Hope your back gets better :)
