There have been many studies linking cocoa with health benefits.
The darker chocolate with the most concentrated cocoa will of course be the most beneficial. The following
are a list of a few health benefits we found:

Heart - Phytochemicals called flavonoids that are found in cocoa have two positive effects. One, the antioxidants block arterial damage caused by free radicals. These unstable molecules (free radicals) may damage the arterial walls by blocking the artery wall lining. The second indicates, that chocolate inhibit platelet aggregation which could cause a heart attack or stroke. There have also been studies indicating that cocoa flavonoids relax the blood vessels which inhibit an enzyme that causes inflammation.

Dark chocolates contain 53.5 mg of catechins per 100 grams. (Catechins are the powerful anti-oxidants that help prevent against cancer and heart disease). By contrast, 100 ml of black tea contains a mere 13.9 mg of catechins

Pure Dark Chocolate

Anti-oxidants, Essential Fatty Acids and Bioflavinoids: polyphenols, theobromine, flavanols, fights heart disease, combats cancer cells and supports the immune system as well as improves mood, memory and stimulates overall brain function. It's rich in omega - 3.

Junk foods like potato chips; ice creams puddings and CHOCOLATES can lead to constipation. That's why chocolates is in the list of foods to avoid for people with IBS with constipation. But eating it in moderation is okay. Drink a lot of fluids while eating a high fiber diet.such as green and leafy vegetables and bran cereals and wheat bread. A high fiber diet esp insoluble fiber can be constipating as the foods tend to pull water out of the colon.

In large amounts yes it can be.

Geez I hope note. I eat a TON of it. I've never had that problem yet. But I eat lots of fruit and veggies and stuff too. I think anything can be constipating.

I don't know; I've never heard of it causing constipation. But if you ate chocolate in the place of fibrous foods, you might well become constipated - not from the chocolate itself, but from the lack of fibre.

You would have to be eating a lot of it. A bar a day keeps the doc away that's what I say!

i've never shoved chocolate up my bum so i don't really know, but i can see where your daughters comming from

Yes in large amounts but it can also work the opposite way too in large amounts. Best to stick to small pieces!
