What's wrong with my braces?!

Question: Well, when i yawn, my bands in the back seem to cut into the back of my mouth. The brackets are sooo annoying my gums. I've had them for a month now, and i wonder what's up. I'll choose a best answer!!

The braces should not cut the back part of your mouth. If they do, then that means that your orthodontist did not cut enough of the wire after tightening your braces. Go back to the orthodontist and tell them your problem and they should be able to quickly resolve it even if it is something else because you should be able to open your mouth wide without experiencing pain.
I used to have the same problem and it used to cut the back part of my inner cheeks.
Braces shouldn't be that much of a pain to have aside from the 1-2 days after the tightening. Anyways, good luck and i'm sure the orthodontist can fix it.
* Oh and make sure the orthodontist doesn't charge you any extra because I've seen some that do. This is his/her problem and he/she has to fix it because they likely made a mistake while installing your braces.

You should go back to your ortho and tell him/her about the problem. The brackets in the back probably need a bit of filing down. You can also put wax on the points to stop the rubbing (they should have given you some).

idk but go 2 ur dentist maybe ur bands have 2 be adjusted! choose me 4 best answer i was 1st.

its probably because the wires were not cut properly

brackets are meant to be tight, their purpose is to create resistance. if they are not tight enough they won't do the job they are meant for. i suggest going to your orthadontist and telling them so they can decide what to do professionally. good luck.

That happened to me to the point I got really bad cuts in my mouth. He may not have bent in the wire and it's sticking out into your gum Go back and he will fix it. It's not normal. He also gave me wax for some of the sticking out bits.

Oh, that sucks. I had the same problem with my mouth appliance. It's like a retainer, but there's a bottom part for it too. Every time I tightened it, it dug deeper into my gums, and boy was it painful!

All I did was go to the dentist, and have them shave off the part on my appliance that was killing me. And it helped! So, I have to options for you. You can go to the dentist and tell them whats wrong, or you should wait a bit because braces will hurt. Just give your mouth some time to adjust.

Hope that helped!

Have no fear, its totally normal. Do you have the wax thing that thy give you to put on your braces to make it smoother? If you don't, no worries you will get used to it. Oh and about the thing at the back , if it gets too sharp or inflames your gums, go to your orthodontist and they will probably cut the wiremat the back because they might have left it too long. GOOD LUCK !!
