It sounds like you may have done one of two things. You either impacted or tore your rotator cuff, or you have a shoulder (Acromio-Clavicular) seperation. Both are painful and can result in the symptoms that you report. A shoulder dislocation is usually caused by falling on an outstretched, extended arm and would be painful in ALL positions and you would not be able to move it in any direction, because of the pain.

If you do not wish to see your doctor, (I would recommend seeing an Orthopedic or sports medecine specialist), then seeing a sports medecine physical therapist may be an option.

you could have a frozen shoulder (i have frozen shoulder from a car crash) you need to go todoctors and get anti imflammatries and pain killers and you need to do gentle exercise moving your shoulder cos if you don't move it it will get worse. if the tablets don't work your doctor will offer you either physiotherapy or steroid injections in your shoulder. oh if it is frozen shoulder there is no cure you are stuck with it for life
