I fell a month ago and my knee still hurts. Did I seriously mess it up?!

Question: I slipped and fell at work and landed on my knee. I had two huge bruises and a big bump for awhile. My knee still hurts really bad and it's been over a month ago. I still can't kneel on it and if anything bumps against it, it really hurts. What might I have done to it? I don't work at the same place anymore, but should I have filed an accident report or something?

That's so wierd because the same thing happened to me a month ago, and my knee hurts if something bumps it lightly. And I was wondering why it still hurts too.

it could be a bone contusion (bruised bone) i just recently got over one from a hard impact, and it takes a while at least month to heal

It could be anything from a bruised bone to a torn meniscus. You should have filled out an accident report. Now you need to make an appointment with a doctor so you don't end up with a permanent injury

That's a fairly complicated joint considering how much weight it has to support. There is a sack under the knee cap that has, what my doctor called "butter", which lubricates the joint.

Also there is not much cushioning between what ever you hit and the bone (knee cap). One of the reason why football players have to retire.

Your going to feel that pain again when you get to your 80's and 90's.

Don't worry, you just misplaced your knee, everyone does it all the time atleast once in there life for almost over 75% of all americans, anyways it's still okay if bad enough that when it first starte happening it will be put in a brace and you iwll be on cruches,if it has been awhile since ou ahve hurt it or doesn't hurt as much as it oculd, then that means you will ahve to live with it,of ocurse you cans till do sports and excersing but not the overload...too much and it could get screwed up for life!
