Yes. Medical research does indeed indicate different people need different amounts of sleep. Sleep is a fundamental human need but sleep deprivation is very harmful to most people.

some people do indeed need more than 10 hours per night on average and this has nothing to do with "laziness" Most get by with 6 or 7. A few can get by with an average of 3 hours or less per night's sleep without suffering the ill effects.

These variations seem to be due to the actual sub-divisional content of your sleeping, such as how you breathe and how much of your time in bed is divided between your REM sleep and your NREM sleep throughout your life. But also it is known that night workers sleep a lot less when in bed day times than day workers sleep night times, due to the differences in body core temperature.

Also while in general most people need less sleep the older they get, this is not true for everyone.

Basically it all comes back to the simple fact everybody is different. So do not feel guilty if you find you just need to spend more time in bed than others seem to. Just stay in bed as long as you feel you need to, so long as it does not make you late for work.

I require 7 hours - but a lot of people I know need 12 hours sleep.

I am in the same boat! I need at least 8 to 10 hours to function. If that's normal I can't say!

I think it has to do with age,if you sleep in the afternoon and what you activites you do every day. Pretty much its just how active you are.

Yes, some people require more sleep, some people less. They say children 10 and under should have atleast 10 hours a night to avoid obesity.

I can go with about six hours every night myself. My husband needs atleast nine.

i realiy love sleep but know i have a really bad sleeping disorder. i need to take pills or drink a lot of alcahol to fall a sleep it really bites...

Ya well i think because i need like 6-7 hours of sleep and some of my friends can go on like 3-4. Also you enjoy it a lot that might be why. You can't compare to other people because the way your body works is, that you need that much sleep.

some people just need less, my husband can go on 4 hours of sleep when i need 9 or 10 hours of sleep, it doesn't matter what time he goes to bed , he wakes up the same time every morning without an alarm clock.

Well not really..its just what you get your body used to...I LUV to sleep and can go on sleeping for 12 + hours!

yes, like me. If i don't need go to the work or school, I could sleep half day in my bed.^ ^ why? maybe because you are tired, maybe you are too lazy to get up the bed.

Ha ha maybe your just lazy lol, people who have a hectic lifestyle such as being on their feet all day or working out require more sleep than some1 who say sits in front of a computer all day, sleep time is recuperation time its your bodies time to rest and repair itself sometimes you can get yourself into a sleeping cycle where you do nothing all day but will sleep 12hrs everynite you have basically done this to yourself and you just need to train your body to have less sleep by making yourself wake up earlier you will eventually get used to it....

i would think it is okay if your not sleeping 13 to 15 hours aday
however there are some health problems that cause people to be tired
might check with a doctor to make sure it is normal for you

yes i know i seem to
