First of all. Don't let anyone bully you. Not even a parent. That being said...

Try visualization. Basically it involves getting still and quiet and seeing yourself doing the back handspring perfectly all by yourself. Over and over again. Don't let any other thoughts or doubts come in. This is what most successful athletes to whether it's tumbling, diving, football, fencing. It doesn't matter. It works but it takes mental discipline, focus, and concentration.

Believe in yourself. We can all get doubts in our abilities as athletes. It's what you do with those doubts that make you a champion.

Go get 'em! You CAN do it! (and if you don't do it perfectly, at least you tried and didn't chicken out) Just give it your best and keep your head held high! Good luck.

I know you said you can't do that mind over matter thing, but try this. Have it in your mind that "He" is watching you do it. even if "he" isn't .

I'm in gymnastics and i do that kind of stuff all the time. I was the same way with my back tuck!! All the advice I have is you have to just make yourself whip it. Thats what I did and it works. Once you whip it one time, it's a breeze all the time. Just relax and do it!

when i first started tumbling i was very young so i wasnt scared of anything really, but if you have a trampoline it really helps doing it there a lot at first. if you still are going to class ask him to barely spot you. if all else fails just GO FOR IT! once you do it one time, you will want to do it over and over.
