Which is a more common injury? The medial or lateral side of the ankle?!
Question: Why?
Answers: Why?
The lateral side. That's the side affected when you turn your ankle out. When most people have a sprained ankle, their ankle turns out so the bottom of their foot faces to the inside.
medial
lateral - due to the anatomical make up of your bones, the lateral (fibula) extends a bit longeer than the medial. So most times you foot will turn inwards (inversion). Also the ligaments are abundent on the medial side, thus making the medial side a lot stronger.
