Pain in my knee steadily getting worse?!

Question: i have had pains in my left knee for about 4-5 mos. now. at first, when i told my dad about it, he said it was just growing pains. it has slowly been getting worse, though. at first it would come and go, and usually only when i was being really active or running or something. on a scale of 1-10 it now hurts about 4-6 constantly, even when i sit and have it up on a footstool. i haven't said anything about it to my parents or anybody since 5 mos ago when it first started because i didn't want to be whiny. and btw, im 14.

Be whiny. They're your knees, and you only have one set for the rest of your life. You said you are pretty active? You need to see a doctor, especially since the pain is now chronic and has been hurting for some time now. You don't want to ignore this. Talk to you parents and while you don't want to act like it's a huge drama, you don't want to let them blow it off either. For the moment, ice it down for about 15 minutes (no longer than 20, you don't want frostbite) and that should help relieve some of the pain. Go to a doctor soon!!!

Please go see an orthopedic dr. My knee problems started at 14 (and this is three operations later). If it is keeping you from doing things, then you definitly need it checked out.

I thought growing pains were just randoms pains you get when you grow, like sharp shooting pains. but if your knee(s) hurt after exercise, obviously that is not growing pains but something else. You should ice it when it gets sore, and go see a doctor of a pysico, this means you will have to tell your parents so they can take you, just explain how it has been hurting for months.

Also, you could be hypermobile (which is why my knees hurt).
if you can do these things you might have it. (see pic on this site) http://www.myfibrosite.com/users/dayna/h...
