I am having bad sleep problems lately...?!

Question: Im a student away at college and for the past couple of weeks I can't fall asleep before 4.. then 5.. and now it's 6 am. Im so fed up, and last night I finally felt tired at 6 in the morn..only to wake up at 10 in a rediculous sweat and cannot fall back to sleep (i'm unable to sleep past then, though in the past i used to be able to sleep all day long if I wanted to)

Ive given in, gotten up and cleaned the room this morning, but my sleep issues are really taking their toll. Recently I cannot retain a good memory and am having trouble in classes understanding and thinking clearly, especially affecting me while taking tests.

With so little sleep at night (its become somewhere between 3-4 hours recently, vs. my old usual of 6-7) each day just seems to be worse and worse, my nose has been running, head is in pain and my throat is flairing up.
I feel delerious.

Any solutions/tips that dont involve any medication? Any reasons why you think this is?? Thanks!!

If none of that works, I would suggest going to the doctor. Good luck and I hope it gets better for you!

Are you having at least 8-10 glasses of water. Good nutrition with fruits and vegetables. Don't watch any television, this is the cause of 80% of sleep disorders. Take a tylenol if you really have to.

I'm suggesting that this might be related to stress... but I'm no expert. Maybe you should just see the doctor.

Try Melatonin. It's NOT a drug -- it's a chemical that your body naturally produces to induce sleep.

People take it when they're jet-lagged, in order to "reset the body clock." You seem to be having sleep problems that resemble jet-lag.

You can buy Melatonin over the counter at any drug store.

Remember, again, it's NOT a drug -- it's entirely natural, so there's no risk of addiction or anything like that.

I've gone back and forth between the US and eastern Asia a few times, and Melatonin really helps with the jet-lag.

You'll probably only have to take it once or twice, then your body's "clock" will be reset and you won't have to take it again.
