MY son picked up nits at school. Is tea tree as good as I am told?!

Question: He is nit free...only has short hair and I managed to catch them one day one or two of contact but they jumped onto me and I have really long hair. Alot of it too!! The only thing I can find 'till I get to the shops in the morning was tea tree. I always just use conditioner and a GOOD nit comb and this works fine on my son's short hair, but my long hair needs abit of added help. So I added tea tree oil to the conditioner and shampoo and put (a fair bit!) directly on my hair and sclap. I know I shoulda diluted the essential oil bit I have no base oil and THE NITS HAVE TO DIE! Also, someone said that limes work. Just squeeze limes directly on your hair and scalp. Anybody else heard that one or any other tips would be handy. No chemicals or expensive brand names. They do not work on my hair!! I have tried them all! Thanks. Have Fun :)

i have found the best way to get rid of head lice and eggs is to comb the hair every week until they have gone then comb the hair every 3 to 4 weeks to make sure they have not returned x

tea tree oil wont kil them
it just distracts them if you have no head lice as they dont like the smell

lice cling thy don't jump or fly so use Vaseline it will cause them to lose there grip and die

The conditioner and nit comb is the only way to get rid of them without using chemicals which don't always work as the lice have become used to them. Tea tree is said to work but didn't for me when I caught them from the little treasures in our nursery.

I have used tea tree oil, and it worked for us. I also buy some tea tree shampoo from morrisons for
