I just went to the dr. for the same thing except it just happens in my left hand. As long as I am not doing nothing with it, it's ok. But when I start using it for anything it like goes to sleep. No, it dont go to sleep, it sort of feels like it has been asleep and is just waking up. Pins and needles just like you say.The dr. said it could be alot of things. Low potassium.pinched nerve. They took blood from me because she said that it even could be diabetis. He said I could be diabetic. So I had to take a blood test. I will know in a month. So if I were you I would go get it checked out.

Stress could be one. Also it could be Carpal Tunnel. It's just basically pinched nerves in your arm. I would go to the doctor and have him test you to eliminate CT.

whats ur job ,do u just sit the with ur hands still or at school however old u are ?

what does that mean?

Keep away from sharp objects. You might have a phobia.

It could be a couple of things.. and it depends to on what you do with your hands..

1. it could be low blood pressure (circulation).
2. it could be carpal tunnel syndrome (but like I said, depending on what you do every day)
3. you could have a strained muscle
4. Or you could just be not using your hands enough so they fall asleep

you should get it checked out could be something to do with your circulation or trapped nerve

If it feels like pins or bugs are crawling on you, it probably is that you are losing circulation, just move it around, take any pressure off of it and wait it out.

I hope that's whats wrong and hope this helps.

Did you just wake up? If so, you could have slept on it wrong. Try doing hand exercises to get the blood flowing to your hands again. One of which is rotating two pool balls in one hand clockwise, then counterclockwise. If it persists, call your doctor, there might be some nerve damage.

Is it one or both?
If is one it could be a pinched nerve, if its in both you could have a blockage in your spine, or something like rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel or MS. In any event you need to get to a dr he should do some blood work and then send you too a neurologist too have a few nerve tests done, with is like accupuncture.

Dont get too nervous until you see a Dr like I said it could be a pinched nerve.

Wow that is scary! You should see a doctor fast! But maybe it could be stress.

i don't want to freak you out....but my mom had that feeling in her hands and then she found out that she had rheumatoid arthritis. you should not wait around waiting for the answer you want. you need to eliminate this possibility. you can go to your doctor to get a blood test and that will tell you if you have it. if you do end up having it and you live in the san jose, ca area then you need to go to:

call this number!!!! it is where my mom is going and its the only plce she has gotten any help!! good luck and i know its very scary! but don't be blinded by your fear!!! its very important to eliminate this as a possibility!! it can and will take over your life!

maybe you have a pinched nerve in your elbow. i dislocated my elbow a couple years ago and now my fingers go numb all of the time

Please visit your local doctor.

It could be RSI Repetitive strain injury what causes this is....

prolonged periods of work without adequate breaks
sustained overuse from too much repetitive movement
poor posture
excessive workload
lack of control in the priorisation of tasks or the intensity of work
a cold working environment

or it could be arthritis

It's most likely carpal tunnel syndrome, or thoracic outlet syndrome. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is when the muscles in the front and sides of your neck, the anterior, middle and posterior Scalenes, contract upon the bundle of nerves which supply the length of your arm. When they're contracted they'll quickly send "pins and needles" throughout the length of your arm. It could also be a similar contraction with Pectoralis Minor. Pec Minor is a small, but important, muscle which also has nerves running through it. When it contracts it can cause the "pins and needles" as well.

I'd recommend seeing a reputable massage therapist in your area. One who specializes in Myofascial Release and/or Neuromuscular Therapy. At the very minimum one who works a lot with pain management issues. A good resource for that is AMTA's website (no, I don't work for them) which is located at www.amtamassage.org. They have a therapist locator on there....

I'd give that a try and stay with it for at least three or four visits. If after that you don't show a marked improvement then it's time for the doctor. But all they'll want to do is diagnose it as Carpal Tunnel then perform surgery. I wouldn't be surprised if, when you did go that route, that the effects of the surgery will have been neglible and you'll still find yourself in pain.

Good luck.
