Thumb pain, i need help!!!?!

Question: two years ago, i was playing a soccer game and i was goalie for my soccer team. the other team took a long shot and i jumped up and saved it, awsome? no. cause i jumped up and the only thing that pushed the ball over the cross bar to stop it from going in was my left thumb. the weight of the ball and the shot basically pushed my thumb backwards. it hurt for a few days but the pain went away. but here i am, trying to play guitar. and i'm right handed so i used my left hand to press my fingers against the neck. and sometimes when i play certain kinds of notes (power chords) my thumb bends in such a way that it starts to hurt halfway through a song i'm playing. i've talked to some guitarists, and some say it they didn't have the same problem, some say it should go away. but it doesn't. do you think it has to do with my soccer injury? if so, what can be done to fix it? cause i love playing guitar and i don't want pain to get in the way of me playing.

Well, if you didn't get treatment when you got the injury, it would be that injury causing the problem. Its because your finger didn't have time to heal, but only go worst internally. The bones right now, if healed, would be thicker. So that may be the problem. It would get thicker because your body is trying to prevent an accident to happening to that part of of fingers again. Thats why when people say they injured their whole body more than once, they're lying.. You can't break the SAME finger twice..only a different or very close part.
