Cutting. how do i stop?!

Question: i've been cutting for maybe like 4 months, and its nothing deep, just what a safety pin can do. i've only bled like three times.
i feel so STUPID! like everythings going wrong, but the truth is,
it isn't. but sometimes I just get so upset, i go in my room and just cut. the last one i did really scared me, i thought i would die. bcuz it was really close to my vain. im not doing this for attention, and only a few people know. I don't cut bcuz i wanna die, i cut bcuz it feels so good to me!
it feels like im creating art work, and oddly, it kinda does relieve my pain!
I wanna stop so bad! but everytime im home by myself, i get this urge to cut.
my mom found out about a cut on my left arm that said "hate" and she said [screaming]"what the he** is that? what are you doing that for? what do you hate?? If you do that again im taking you to a shrink! next thing i know you'll be slitting your wrist!"
but she don't know that i actually have still been doing this...
please help me. =[[[

Sounds like your mom cant relate to your cutting issues. YOu need to focus your energy other places. CUtting is a way that people use to make themselfs feel real (not dreaming) When I was younger I would cut, not to kill myself but becuase i was angry and took it out on myself. It passed with times and friends. Just remember no drug or friend can make you happy you have to be that way inside yourself.

Identify the 'trigger' that gives you the urge to cut. The moment you have the urge to cut, stop and think of what has just occurred. Remember it and try to avoid these situations! When they do occur, try to create another outlet. Walk away, eat ice cream, take a shower or bubble bath, go out for a jog, go for a swim, call a friend for coffee at the local coffeehouse but do not cut.

Find another way to vent. Cutting is a way to release some type of pain or frustration. Try painting, writing about your feelings, singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or playing a sport. Even screaming at the top of your lungs helps. Try anything you can (as long as it's legal and healthy) to stop the urge to cut.
Release the pain without cutting by using your voice. Talk to someone--a doctor, teacher, friends, your parents if you can. You will be surprised how relieved you will feel after you talk about it. If you chose a doctor or a counselor, they can get you the help you need to heal the underlying cause. Speak out loud about what is causing you so much pain. Talk about it - even to yourself, in the privacy of your bedroom. Yell or scream - anything to release the tension inside of you - but do not cut.

Help yourself by imagining that you are your best friend. If she was just about to cut herself, what would you say to stop it?
Recognize that cutting is just the symptom of a root problem. Follow the above steps to stop yourself from cutting, but also seek help from a doctor, parent, or counselor to address the deeper problems that make you want to cut in the first place.

Don't Let people stereotype you as emo because you cut. Those people are ignorant.

Snapping a rubber band on your wrist is not a good
suggestion as it re-enforces that you can fix your problems by hurting yourself. It is merely a "cop-out" and you shouldn't do this or any other method of hurting yourself to stop cutting.
Don't let people judge you either; it makes things worse. Believe in yourself

Self-mutilation can lead to infections and permanent scars.
Cutting is dangerous. There is a possibility that you may accidentally hit an artery and possibly bleed to death.
The visual effects of the cuts could inflict pain on the people you love such as friends and family.
People love you, both friends and family. You need to go to at least one of them and tell them what you are going through. It will be the first step you will take on the road to feeling better.
Many Internet forums and online cutter forums are counter-productive to helping the cutter overcome their problem. Most often these forums only serve to encourage the behavior.
Be wary of forums that encourage you to post photographs of your scars or injuries in exchange for praise and/or encouragement.

Get help by going to see a specialist

well just think of somthing or somone who would get hurt if you cut so you think about what will happen afterwards

you need to see a doctor. you need help.

You can stop! I know you have it inside you! When you think about cutting yourself think of all the good times you've had in your life! Here ask someone you trust to get you this book. Its called chicken soup for the girls soul. You should really get it. It talks about growing up and challenges and it is SUPER cool! You can find it at barnes and noble book store. Best wishes to you!

my daughter has told me of some friends she has that do this to themselves--is it an outlet or a deeper problem that causes you to act out this way--you need to figure this out for your own health--then again a simple thing can turn deadly if left untreated--if i were you i'd start working out get into karate--let it out in other ways---VENT--talk to friends--seek spiritual help--but please get someone to listen --try out different ways to involve your time--don't just let it go on to possibly grow into a monster...

I used to be bullied and although i didnt cut i know how bad you feel. It might help if you ask yourself why you are upset. and then ask yourself does cutting make the problem go away. If not then sort the problem out and maybe you wont feel the urge to cut yourself. I tried to kill myself but it wasnt a i wanted to die it was a i need help. And then i realised that doing it doesnt help. It just makes it worse in the long run. Hope this helps. And you dont need help, you are not "sick". Millions of people cut themselves for different reasons and it just means you are going through a difficult time that you need to sort out.

I had the same problem.
But it was with my upper arms.
Someone needs to give you an ultimatum, someone important to you.
That's how it worked with me.
My Boyfriend saw one day, took out his pocket knife and slit his upper arm.
Told me for every one I added, he would too.
Needless to say, I stopped.
Someone important to you needs to threaten it out of you.
How it worked for me.

Wow Dude. You should probably stop that. There are way safer forms of S&M. I would probably hire a gimp if I were you.

Alright, one time I cutted myself too...it was because I got so angry over something so stupid. So I kinda know how it felt when you relieved the pain inside you.

But you need to stop cutting yourself now.
Soon this might lead to depression and if God forbid, suicide.
If I were you should seek help from your parents, friends, trusted adult, etc.
Talk it over about the urge to cut yourself and find another way to solve your problems when you face them.
