About a month and a half ago, I fell on my tailbone...?!

Question: It hurts VERY badly. When I sit in certian positions, or in one position for a long time. Also, if I put any pressure on it, it is also painful...

Does this just take a long time to heal, or what?

It sure can. My sympathies to you, fractured tailbones are very painful, and can take months to completely heal. And unfortunately there are no good ways to treat it either. Your only options are an anti-inflammatory pain relief like Motrin, and sitting on a air donut to take pressure off the tail end. Beyond that, there isn't any treatment. There just are no casts for tails, toes or ribs. The healing time is usually longer because you can't completely rest the part, it's not like you have a lot of options for sitting down. About all you can do is choose your seating surface and opt for more padding. Sorry.

That happened to me while I was trying to learn to snowboard.
It healed in a week or so. I think it depends on how old you are, and how hard you fell. My mom fell too and she took a while longer to heal.
Keep drinking milk and eat vitamins, they'll help your tail bone recover. If you're really worried it might be fractured or something do to a doctor.
good luck!!

Yes! The tailbone takes a long time to heal. This is called the coccyx one, and is made up of about 3 or 4 small bones that are fused together by cartilage. They aren't supposed to move much, and when you injure this area, the cartilage is likely to tear. Cartilage has a very low blood supply, and because of this, takes a long time to heal. Ice will releive the pain and swelling, and heat will increase blood flow. Ibuprofen may treat the inflammation also and relieve the pain. In some cases, the coccyx can be fractured, so if you're really worried, get an xray. There is little they can do though, its a difficult area to treat. In rare cases, surgery needs to be done if the bone damage is significant.

Gosh I hate to tell you this but it took my daughter 2 years to feel better, and even 4 years later there are times it hurts if she sits on a hard stool. There isn't anything you can do for a sore tailbone, except maybe sit in a tub of warm water when it hurts the most, then sit on an ice pack for awhile. You can take some tylenol or whatever you normally take for pain. Try to sit on a very soft pillow when you can and keep pressure off the area as much as possible.

It can take many weeks, depends on how bad it is cracked. You won't hurt so bad, if you use a doughnut pillow. That way there is not pressure on your tailbone.

You need to get some x-rays or a MRI because you could have chiped a bone or dislocated your disc. and it will get worse unless you seek the problem, If you dislocated a disc, well sometimes healing process might be surgery , so go see about it fast the longer you wait the worse it will get..

it takes a very long time to heal. I broke my tailbone last may and it didn't fully heal until just recently, and I actually still have pains. if yours is just bruised I'd say probably 3-5 months before it goes away. put some ice on it when it really starts to hurt. hope your tailbone feels better
