Iron supplement question?!
Question: I know the shelf life of any pills is generally longer then the listed experiation date, I have a bottle of iron pills that expired 11/07. would it hurt me if I still took them? what could be the side effects of taking expired medication?

Well such a simple question and I can not find a definite answer anywhere. Most Vitamins will oxidize and loose potency, they will not hurt you but you just will not get the full dosage. However, most minerals resist rapid oxidization, so I believe that they can lost a long long time. So I think Iron should last a long time. I found that chromium lasts a long long time and I can not see why Iron would be different. As I said before however, I can not definite proof one way or the other. My suggestion? Just buy a new bottle its what 3 or 4 dollars?

You can still take them after the expired date. The expiry date simply means that it is better to use them before that date because after that date they may start to deteriorate and may be less effective.
