Just cut my finger trying to open a can. What should I do? Hurts real bad?!

Clean it with peroxide, which will hurt. If you don't have peroxide use alcohol which will hurt like a mofo. Close it with a bandaid. Have someone kiss your boo boo.

if you can't press the two pieces of skin together, you need stitches.. but usually just opening a can all you need to do is wash it off, put pressure on it with a washcloth to stop the bleeding and put antibiotic on it.. then a band aid!
Run under cold water. If its very deep(the edges are separate) and especially if you can't get the bleedng to stop you need to go to the ER. Otherwise. clean & apply pressure and bandage. If you have anti-bacterial ointment apply. Keep bandaged until healed ;clean and evaluate frequently for s/s of infection, ie: increased pain, swelling, redness , white dischage, great amt of swelling If you have these symptoms you need to go to the Dr. for ABT. Hand and finger lesions are more prone to infection. Tylenol or advil will help with the discomfort.

First check it to make sure it isn't deep enough to warrant stiyches and if not- Wash it with soap and water. Put a compress on it to stop the bleeding. A little neosporin with pain relief and if you don't have that maybe some peroxide- not alcohol- that will burn like hell-hehe. Put a bandage on it or some gauze and wrap it up and leave it alone. Check to make sure it doesn't get infected. You will be fine. Take some Tylenol if it really hurts. It will cut some of the pain.
is it bleeding? if so stop bleeding by wrapping in wet rag . if your drug store is open call pharmasist for help. check with your doctor to see if you need a tetanus shot.--put an antiseptic on it like peroxide or alcohol. not much u can do for pain right now but call drugstore

Check the movement of your finger to make sure you have a full range of motion. If not, see a doctor.
You may want to buddy tape it to an adjacent finger or use an ice cream stick as a splint to prevent bending until it heals up if the cut is in an area that flexes too much.
When was you last tetanus shot...If it has been a while, go get one asap.
Elevate your hand above your heart to alleviate pressure and throbbing...
