Answers: as you can tell im getting nervous!

Hey your not alone we were all nervous, there is a lot happening when in labour and when your delivering a baby! Hang in there you'll be fine, your nurses and doctors will take great care of you and your baby - that is why we have them.

They will assess you and if you can have an epidural I would take it as it was a great pain reliever for me and I had no trouble delivering vaginally my first girl.

For my second she was breech and they had to do a c-section and I had a spinal block so that they could operate on me to get my second daughter out. I felt fine during the whole procedure with the spinal.

So don't worry, talk to your doctors, they have your and the baby's best interests at heart - you will be fine no matter what and believe me you won't remember the pain for very long after wards, it just disappears from your memory shortly after holding your baby in your arms for the first time.

Congrats and enjoy the experience!

Epidural is the way to go for pain relief. Can't scale it though since pain is a highly personal sensation and can vary greatly.

If you're really in active labor, go to the hospital, they'll take care of it. You can't use the sorts of pain control they have access to in the hospital (you can't really put a needle into your own vertebral column, even if you did have access to the medicines). The most common type of anesthesia they use for labor is an epidural because it's very effective and very little of the anesthetic enters the systemic circulation, so the baby isn't affected by it.

An Epidural is in fact the safest for the baby and it helps many women in active labor..but sometimes it doesn't too...I tried with my kids..and it worked once!! My daughter had a lil Girl...my 1st Grandbabe..woohoo...and it did not work for her either!! The greatest thing you need to keep in the front of your mind is that the pain is not going to last forever, and ooooh...the Goodie you get when it's over..ti awesome and well worth any effort....Congrats to You...the Doctors will keep you as comfortable as possible...Just Remember that Babe will be in Your Arms Shortly!! My BEST to YOU and Your Lil One
