taking pill recreationally is bad no matter what it is. The problem today with pain killers, is that most people who get addicted to them have a prescription. Your brother is worse because he is taking xanax for the sole purpose to get messed up. He needs to be really careful bc if he mixes those with certain things accidentally it will kill him. We had 4 teens die in one month in my town from mixing methadone with xanax. The problem with you is, you have been prescribed morphine. You have taken this morphine for 6 months. Pain pills eventually lose their potency and you will have to continually take more and more to relieve the pain. What sucks is, opiates are sooooooo addictive!!! you may be taking them only for pain, but in the long run you are probly worse off than your brother because your body is already building up a tolerance to you meds so it will get worse and worse until you are completely dependant on opiates to get through your day. It will go from having some back pain, to you having physical withdrawls from opiates when you dont take them. Opiate withdrawl is soooo painful! its like an amped up version of the flu. You will cramp, go through sweats, have chills, shake, vomit, etc. Please just be careful! i was taking only 3 percocet a day for about 10 months and i became not only physically addicted, but mostly mental. Dont let your mind think you absolutely have to have more and more. It has been the hardest thing ive ever tried to do (becoming clean). And it all started when i got a script for 3 months. Then i started buying them illegally. They ruined my life, and im only 19!!!!. Please be careful.

while both of you argue who is worse, why don't you do something constructive like seeking treatment together, a drug addict is a drug addict does not really matter what their choice of drug is.

you must be the older one not absuing, bet your brother can't not take a xanax for one dayvery, very addicting. Back pain is really hard to get rid of but your stuff is addicting as well, brother is a druggie.................................

I am on morphine myself for back pain, and dilaudid for breakthrough pain I might take an extra dilaudid once in a while to feel it more. It does suck having pain and having to resort to narcotics, I do believe there is a diffrence between addiction and dependency. My body is dependent on the pain meds because of my pain level, if I did not have the pain I would not be on them, I know easier said then done but I truely believe that. Your brother is abusing the xanax to get screwed up. He is addicted. You take morphine for pain and hey an extra perc now and then no harm done.
