How can I ease my hip pain when it gets cold?!

Question: I used to be a very serious ballet dancer. I danced 20+ hours a week until I began having serious hip problems. I went to physical therapy for a while but the pain has never really gone away.

Now, every winter, my hip starts aching constantly. Is there anything I can do, particularily at work, to help ease this. I want to apply heat but I'm not sure how. I don't want to take pills. Is there any thing I can wear, sort of like big warm panties, that won't make my butt look weird?

There is an OTC remedy called Castiva. It's a topical cream that comes in a warming or cooling version. It's got a castor oil base. It has a slight fragrance but after a few minutes the smell is gone. My cranky joints kept me awake at night in these cold Pennsylvania winters and even when the weather got cool and damp. At most I use this twice a day and it really helps. I think I paid @ $7.00 for a big tube of it, but I'm not sure. Lots of places don't carry it, but if you ask the pharmacists, they can get it for you. I don't think it has any side effects and it beats the drugs hands down. Good luck.

Chances are you probably have Arthritis and I can assure you sitting, laying down, does not ease the pain. However hot shower, heat pad, try ice if you can tolerate it.
