For those who have stopped smoking...?!

Question:

For those who have stopped smoking...?

Hi. I am trying to stop smoking (on my 3rd day), and I'm at that point where I'm trying to talk myself out of it because I'm craving them. If you have stopped, please tell me what your experience was (positive effects preferably), and how long before they occured? Thanks in advance for any encouraging comments.

Answers:

When I stopped smoking, every time I wanted a cigarette I would tell myself "If you still want one in an hour then you can have one." An hour later, when I still wanted one, I'd tell myself that again. Eventually it got to where I would go hours without even thinking about smoking. Now, when I'm having a hard day and I want a cigarette, I tell myself "If you still want one tomorrow you can have it." I never have it, though. guess instead of making me feel like I'm depriving myself I feel like I'm making a compromise. Positive effects from stopping smoking are many. For one, I can go anywhere and not have to worry about if I can smoke or how long it will be before I can smoke. That always really sucked; I dreaded visiting my parents because I knew that I couldn't smoke at their house. Now I can go and just have a good time. Also, I don't smell like smoke anymore (which really stinks to people who don't smoke.) I have more money. I don't give out of breath easily anymore and surprise!-I no longer have chest pain. Keep it up. You can do it and you will love it!
