Transition from long to short arm cast?
Any harm done in refusing to go from long to short arm cast? Her arm was broken, they put it in a full arm cast, and 3 wks later the Dr wanted to take it off and put on a short arm cast. Mom refused, saying "If it's healing like this, there's no reason to change casts." So now the full arm cast has been on for 8 wks. Any negative consequences for keeping the full arm cast on?

the long cast may cause the arm to become stiff. perhaps the doctor wanted to put the short cast to prevent this, or the long cast was no longer neccessary.
