Question about acyclovir--?
If I am on a daily dose of acyclovir to prevent the occurrence of cold sores, will it start to become ineffective over time? Will the virus become resistant to the antiviral drug? Will I build up a tolerance? I understand that some medications can, but not sure about it when dealing with viral problems.

Every anti-viral medication can become ineffective overtime. If you don't take it properly, you can also develop resistance to it. Here's more info:
