I found this:
During pregnancy the hair may all grow rapidly at once (rather than the normal pattern of some hair growing and some falling out); once you deliver, all the hair may enter a shedding phase. But in that case, hair falls out diffusely everywhere -- not in clumps.
You certainly could be dealing with alopecia areata, or possibly thyroid imbalance. A simple blood test will determine if it is the latter, and if so, medication will eventually stop the hair loss. It can take several months for the hair to grow back, however.

If it is alopecia areata (a disease of unknown cause marked by the development of bald patches), you may be in for another long course of steroid injections into your scalp. A dermatologist is the best type of doctor to diagnose and treat alopecia areata. Check with your gynecologist or family doctor first for the thyroid testing. If that is normal, make an appointment to see your dermatologist.
