I would like to know for sure just exactly what a drug test/urine split actually!
Question:
I would like to know for sure just exactly what a drug test/urine split actually tests for? info on misreading
I would like to hear from real nurses in the field please.
Answers:
I do drug testing for my job. A split test is not for accuracy, but for re-tests. Every positive specimen must be re-tested using the second sample. In addition to positive re-testing, the clinic holds on to the specimen in case the client requests other windows or panels be done. Most companies request 5 or 6 panel testing (some combination of cocaine, THC, opiates, barbituates, amphetamines and methamphetimines) but if there is reasonable suspicion that someone has used one of the "designer drugs" not tested for in the panels, the client can request the split be tested for the balance panel. Hope that helps and, although it's a supply ordering firm, check out the link below. It gives you an idea of the process. By the way, I am not a nurse.
