I Don't have a bad medical history, should a doctor prescribe calcium supplements or should i just get them from a vitamin store, gnc? im 16 yrs old, male, i dont have osteoporosis nor does my mother. I want to take it to increace my height, im thinking of taking one that also gives vitamin d and magnesium with it, I dont think i get my full serving of dairy products a day. I was thinking of taking zinc instead or with, i do stretches, yoga but i doubt they do much. Im doubtful about the growth hormone medicine, im 5 5" i want to gain a couple of inches before my bones stop growing at 25.
Answers:
I would buy a multivitamin and show it to your doctor on your next visit, because too much some minerals interfere with absorbtion of others.
"Calcium supplements interfere with absorption of zinc"
A zinc deficency can delay puberty. If you take too much zinc though, it decreases your copper and iron levels. A doctor might better answer this. Do a google search for zinc and testosterone. I would drink milk for your calcium, because you get the added protein and vitamin D with it.
