Why does it take so much money to treat drug and alcohol addicts? I don't get it.

Well, addiction treatments actually get to save the society more money in the long run. It has been estimated that the costs of illegal drug abuse to society si $181 billion. And that was way back in 2002. Treating alcohol and drug addicts will be able to reduce this cost, as well as lower the instances of crime, lessen the spread of HIV/AIDS, hepatities, and other diseases.
Addiction treatments cost much because they need the money for medication. The professionals who are working with the patients also need to be paid their due fees. Otherwise, nobody will be able to help in counseling and administering therapies to the patients. The payments are also used to further better the facilities of the rehab/treatment center.
