Could a blood test detect if you had a stroke?!
Question: Could a blood test detect if you had a stroke?
Answers:
Yes a blood test can detect abnormalities in the blood test, like raised blood tests taken. A Fasting Lipid blood test can helped detect a stroke.
BUT it can't be done BEFORE the stroke to prevent one.
Routine blood tests can help a Doctor determine that a stroke is more likely, especially is the person is a smoker and has high cholesterol.
CT Scans and MRI's are the best to conform a stroke though.
Other tests may include cerebral angiography, carotid Doppler ultrasound, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and functional magnetic resonance imaging also help diagnose.
I was just in hospital as a patient and my room mate had, had unnoticed stroke that went un-noticed but the second bigger one didn't.
She appeared that she would make a full recovery if they could stop the small bleed in the brain giving her headches.

Everything I have researched says no. In order for a stroke to be detected with a blood test, it would have to leave something in the blood to be detected and I don't think they do that.
Strokes can be detected with brain scans that look for "dead spots' in the brain.
Many times a minor storke leaves no symptoms other than a slight problem with memory or a very slight weakness in one arm or even a little difference in temperament.
My husband had several and no ever knew that until he was given the brain scan for another reason.
