Advice needed on Condition?!

Question: Advice needed on Condition!?
Hi,

I need some help, i found out last week that I have IBS and gallstones!. I was going to the docs as I had tonsillitis and found out that a scan I had 9 months ago showed 2 gallstones of large size!. I have been experiencing heartburn and bowel problems for a while along with painful discomfort on my right side of my abdomen!.

I am waiting for surgery now and have completely changed my life around in a week!. I have quit smoking put myself on a low fat diet and given away all food that I thought wasn't healthy!. My fridge and cupboard looks like a health shop!. Not a bad thing i mean I could definitely do with losing a bit of weight!.

My question is tho, with everything that I have given up I don't know if I can drink with Gallstones and IBS!. I didn't drink much before but now it feels like my social life is gonna crash and burn too!. I spoke to my mum about it and she thinks I need to stay clear of alcohol and drink diet coke!. She has had too because she is diabetic with high sugar level so she can't drink!.

So can I no longer drink!? I won't be able to go for an indian which me and my mates go for once a month I don't wanna tell them I can't go out for a drink with either!.

Help, I'm 24 and just getting over an ex so going out with the girls was just what i need!.

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well done on the life style changes so far!.
It would be a good idea for general health to not drink alcohol in EXCESS!. Remain within the weekly recommended limits!.

With regards to your IBS, avoid all provocative and fatty foods as much as possible, try including more fibre in your diet (50% of people say this is beneficial, 50% of people say this actually makes it worse) so it's trail and error!. Foods such as wheat, rye, barley, dairy products, coffee (and other caffeine-rich drinks such as tea and cola), and onions can be an irritant!.

Many people say there is an improvement in their condition if people they cut down from drinking a lot of alcohol, or stop smoking if they smoke!. Exercise is also beneficial!. Antispasmodic medicines can help your symptoms!. Low dose antidepressant such as Amitriptyline may also help, it act's as a muscle smoother which can help spasm pain!.

You can have the odd Indian meal, after all we all have to live! Just don't make it too much of a frequent thing with regards to your IBS!. Everything in moderation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes gallstones develop in people who have liver disease, you should have been informed if you have this!.
Alcohol does not seem to be related to the formation of gallstones!.
A low fat diet is the best one to follow to avoid pain, so choose your 'indian' with care!.
In other words, common sense and food that doesn't upset your IBS or set off any pain!.
