Question: Coughing after getting IV
ok so i got my wisdom teeth out yesterday and right after the doctor gave me the IV he told me to cough and swallow!.!.!.i coughed and tasted this HORRIBLE taste!.!.!.it tasted like poisonous gas was coming out of me lol!.!.!.!.i just wanted to know why i tasted it and why he wanted me to cough!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you were given Versed you might experience an "acidic"-type taste in your mouth!. As far as asking you to cough, your doctor may have requested this because your oxygen-level was dropping!. If you were wearing a pulse oximeter (a red light taped to a finger or ear lobe), this might be the case!. Sometimes secretions (mucus) in the throat, bronchial passages, or lungs can reduce the amount of air that can get to your lungs and cause your level to drop!.
